What Pricing Units We're Seeing

Credits are the leading pricing unit for Agentic products.

Credit-denominated
30 (5.1%)
Time / compute-based
9 (1.5%)
Flat or per-seat priced (not usage-metered)
3 (0.5%)
Outcome-based
3 (0.5%)
Allowance / limit-based
1 (0.2%)
Only 46 companies explicitly show a metered unit, so these findings are more directional in nature.
Credit
Airtable / Budibase
500–25,000 monthly AI credits across tiers (Airtable); 2K/10K/50K AI credits per tier (Budibase).
Time / compute
Anthropic / Aircall / D-ID
Per-token pricing by model tier (Anthropic); per-minute voice with a free allowance (Aircall); per-minute tiered by plan (D-ID).
Outcome
Yellow / Kayako
500 chat sessions/mo included then $0.99/resolution (Yellow); flat per-resolution charge (Kayako).
What's Next?

Agent monetization is far from settled. Here's what we're watching.

Agent jobs are diffusing, not consolidating.
Agents already do 14 distinct jobs across 592 companies, and the top two — workflow automation and agent-builder platforms — only add up to 32% of the market between them. The other 68% is spread across support, research, sales, security, and nine more categories. Watch that spread keep widening: nearly a quarter of agent companies (147 of 592) still ship a bare "AI Agent" tag with no defined job at all. As those specialize, expect new named categories to keep splintering off, not the top two to pull further ahead.
Customization, Interoperability, and Execution are table-stakes.
101 of 592 companies (17%) already describe their agent in generic agentic/autonomous language, and another 84 (14%) tout custom-built tooling — both common enough now that they barely differentiate on their own. We expect speed, scope, and depth to be core pillars of agent value going forward.
Credits are winning the pricing-unit race, by a wide margin.
Among the 46 companies that show an explicit metered unit today, 30 (65%) already price in credits — nearly triple the next-closest unit. It's a small, directional sample, but it rhymes with how cloud computing settled on the instance-hour: expect credits to keep pulling ahead as more of the market's still-undisclosed pricing (546 of 592 companies) gets formalized, not stay this fragmented. We'll be watching to see how many of these credit models shift toward outputs and, ultimately, outcomes.
